Here’s a fact you probably didn’t know – In the time it takes to blink, a car traveling at 60 mph will have moved over 50 feet. It’s exactly that much of a moment, a single blink, that is enough to change an entire life or multiple lives… and while your eyes might have missed that moment, a dashcam never blinks. Once a tool for law enforcement, these compact devices have become indispensable for everyday drivers around the globe. With road incidents on the rise and accountability more important than ever, we’re diving into why equipping your vehicle with a dashcam isn’t just smart—it’s essential. Whether it’s a near brush with death, a careless driver/pedestrian flouting traffic rules, or just a vandal trying to cause trouble, having a steady pair of eyes on the road helps keep you safe and also helps prove your point. The folks at 70mai, makers of some of the leading dashcams on the market, are running a 25% discount on their best-selling dashcams. With features such as 4K capture, AI motion detection, built-in GPS, and 24-hour surveillance, 70mai’s dashcams start as low as $66 and fit easily on both the front and the rear of your car, monitoring every corner to keep your car, but also ultimately you and your family, safe.

1. 70mai Omni Dash Cam 360° Vehicle Security Guard

Touted as the world’s first-ever 360° rotating dashcam, the 70mai Omni monitors the front, rear, and even insides of your car. The single-unit camera attaches to your front windshield, with a 140° FoV wide-angle lens that can rotate 360° to surveil every corner of your car and its periphery. The cameras rely on best-in-class OS02K10 sensors which record at FullHD 1080p@60fps in HDR, working even in low light thanks to 70mai’s Night Owl Vision feature. The patented design features a compact display for viewing your feed, and a set of rotating cameras that leave no stone unturned, especially given their AI-powered features that track motion, humans, and collisions. Moreover, the dashcam’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) feature helps you stay aware of your surroundings as you drive. 24-hour smart surveillance means your car stays alert even when you’re not in it, and video footage gets recorded locally to an eMMC built-in storage (this offers faster read and write speeds than an SD card), and can also be accessed using 70mai’s app. The camera automatically rolls over older footage if it doesn’t detect any activity, and automatically saves logs of events/detections that don’t get deleted, allowing you to access them at a later date. The Omni comes with voice control, along with a built-in GPS that location-stamps your footage and even tracks your routes for you, making it a remarkably vigilant companion. Currently running on a special 25% discount, the 128G version Omni with hardwire kit bundle starts at just $164.98 which includes the camera unit, mounting accessories, a crowbar for concealing the wiring behind the interior paneling, a power cable, and a car charger to keep your dashcam charged when its 300mAh battery runs out.

Futuristic Bluetooth speaker concept is inspired by electric cars

Bluetooth speakers are a dime a dozen these days, but the majority of them share one particular trait. They’re designed with aesthetics to fit inside the house, sometimes looking like elegant pieces of interior decoration even. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, but they do imply or even explicitly state that these speakers should not be taken out of the house. There will always be times when you wish you could bring your trusty wireless speaker along with you, but at the same time don’t want to take out what looks like a military weapon out of your bag or car. This Bluetooth speaker aims to strike a balance between durability and bold design, and it does so by taking a few pages out of an electric vehicle’s design book.

Designer: Billy Ernst

Electric vehicles or EVs are touted to be the cars of the future, mostly because of their more eco-friendly mode of operation and advanced electronics, but there are some EV makers that take that identity beyond just internal components. Rivian’s adventure vehicles, for example, employ a combination of angular and muscular elements, sharp lines, bold proportions, and distinctive lighting that make the EVs look like TRON vehicles come to life. It’s no wonder, then, that the RIFT Bluetooth speaker concept gives off that same futuristic vibe, demonstrating a design that looks great not just outdoors but indoors as well.

Unlike regular speakers, RIFT comes in an oval ring shape that leaves its middle completely hollow. With the speaker mesh that wraps around the exterior surface, it almost looks like the tread of a tank. Although it comes in different colors, the options are limited to earthy tones that match the EV maker’s own selection, including Glacier White, Rivian Blue, Compass Yellow, and Midnight Black. The LED lighting on the rim serves as a unique accent that brings a sci-fi aesthetic while also providing functionality as a battery level and pairing indicator.

There aren’t too many details in the design that distract from the overall appearance. There are only four control buttons for power, volume, and pairing, and they’re mostly hidden from view on the inner surface of the loop. The more visible button on the top serves both as pause/play control as well as branding. Other than these, the entire body of the speaker is one unbroken ring, giving it a unified and bold appearance while also evoking a sense of stability and reliability.

Given the shape of the speaker, there might be some concerns about the direction that the sound will travel because of the positioning of the speakers. There’s also mention of any dust and water resistance that is a must-have for any adventurous pieces of electronic equipment. Of course, these are just implementation details that wouldn’t really affect the core concept of a bold and daring speaker that can accompany you on your adventures, even if that means just staying at home.

This muscle electric car’s retro-modern flair is what this Tesla obsessed world needs

Fusing the vintage look of classic cars with the modern aesthetics of an electric vehicle is no mean feat since they are contrasting genres altogether. One look at this beastly machine and you’d believe it’s propelled by a fuel-powered engine. But it’s not!

Hiding underneath its muscular form is an electric motor that fully complements the intimidating aura. The big chunky wheels, industrial look and reinforced cockpit are meant for speed rush on the highway or race tracks.

Designer: Radek Štěpán

The concept is completely handcrafted – even though in the digital realm – and would make for an interesting EV in the current times. More so when all the electric cars are getting the definitive futuristic aesthetic and larger-than-life looks. The ride has got a lot of grunt visually, even though it might not have the scream of a V8 or V12 engine.

It incorporates the visual flair of the Ferrari 330 P4, and the streamlined design of the Porsche 956 while having the elegance of the Lola T70. If you’ve been a fan of the 70s and 80s racing cars, you know where this is coming from. Paint it in matte black and you’ve got the perfect getaway ride for a vigilante – Batman that is what I meant!

The front and the rear sections get an interesting design here as the former has recessed LED headlights and the former has a cut-open look for the taillights. That elongated hood and the fat rear perfectly go with the vintage modernized look of the race car.

What sets this muscle electric car apart from the other futuristic designs is its raw feel. Want to take it for a spin already? We bet your speed buds are already tingling.

Flying cars may soon become a reality as this test Model-A is open for Preorders

When we were watching sci-fi TV shows and movies, we probably dreamt of eventually having those vehicles, gadgets, and other technology that they were showing off there. We’re in the year 2023 and while there have been some major advancements already, we still have some ways to go when it comes to things like hoverboards and flying cars. But apparently, we might be closer than we’ve been thinking as an aeronautics company has taken one step closer to having an actual flying car on the road, or rather, in the sky.

Designer: Alef Aeronautics (Open for Pre-Order Now!)

The California-based sustainable electric transportation company Alef Aeronautics was able to receive government certification to fly its Model-A flying car over some parts of the state, specifically Silicon Valley. It is apparently the first of its kind and is able to function like what a real car on the road would do but is able to do a vertical takeoff and fly through the skies. It may not the flying car that we’ve envisioned just yet because of The Jetsons and Back to the Future but it’s one step closer to having vehicles other than planes and helicopters up there.

It is an electric vehicle that looks like a customized luxury car or something that’s from one of those sci-fi movies where flying cars are the norm. The front and sides have some grill type of panels that probably have something to do with the technology that allows it to fly. Obviously they will not reveal yet much of their secrets but the CEO Jim Dukovny claims that their car is even safer than the regular cars on the road. You can actually park and use it just like a regular car and then when you need it to fly, you just do a vertical takeoff.

Obviously, something like this will cost a lot. For now the price tag is $300,000 and they’re still getting a lot of pre-orders. Eventually, they want to be able to bring it down to 100K and then 35K so that the “average consumer” will still get a chance to own one. There are still many steps to go including regulations in cities and countries that will have it, but it’s still a pretty exciting development to have.
