A trend that grew ever so popular during the pandemic was “domes’. Sneakily enough, little garden domes started to rise in popularity during the pandemic, since a lot of people felt frustrated working and being cooped up in their homes all day long. Although offices, and the rest of the world, have started to open up now, somehow domes still manage to be a favorite amongst the people. We’re used to garden domes that function as cool home offices, but this garden dome by Hypedome is a home office…but also much more!

Designed by Hypedome, these garden domes are designed to function as office spaces, calm lounges to relax in, yoga dens, and even additional sleeping quarters if you like to sleep under the stars in the outdoors – without the fear of rain and snow. These geodesic domes were created to make indoor-outdoor living even more accessible, and to provide an indoor-outdoor space that lets you enjoy the beauty of nature without having to deal with its harsh side.

Made from solid polycarbonate panels, the hemispherical garden domes look like glass, but are in fact 200 times more durable and weather-resistant, and UV-protected as well. This provides protection to the furniture and other items placed within the domes. “Our goal was to create durable domes that would not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of gardens but also provide a practical living space that can withstand various weather conditions,” said Hypedome.

The innovative garden domes can be used all year round since you can easily heat them during the winter. And of course, during summer they’ll be a plush little lounge spot to spend your days in, allowing you to soak up the sun, but not too much of it. The garden domes come in three different sizes, with a crystal clear finish as the standard finish. You can also pick mirror, grey, and translucent finish options – they also add a bit of privacy. Hypedome says that the garden domes have a life expectancy of fifteen years, and once they’ve died down, they can be fully recycled, which makes this design worthy of some extra brownie points!

Dubbed Casa Galeria, this 6458 square feet structure is designed as a gallery concept that functions as a unique space that accommodates their collection of art. Designed by BLOCO Architects, the home features an innovative roof structure supported by five large inverted beams. The beams span the entirety of the 12-meter-wid roof, in turn creating “the gallery”, or the central and main space of the house. The gallery is a multifunctional area with a living room, dining room, balcony, kitchen, and garage.

The exterior of the house showcases a pattern called Bárbara, which is named after the owner. It includes an array of blue and white tiles, which provide an intriguing contrast to the clean white walls. Whereas, the bathroom tiles are more fun and loud colors such as green, yellow, and orange, with a similar design pattern as the interiors.

The design of the Casa Galeria isn’t simply about functionality and art preservation, it also focuses on the layout of the house. The living spaces are divided by two open linear gardens that add green and biophilic elements to the home. The first garden is located between the solar protection wall and the windows of the central living area. It is located closer to the street, while the second one divides the social space from the bedroom hall.

The interiors of the Casa Galeria are designed by BLOCO Architects and shine a light on the family’s stunning art collection. Neutral materials and colors were opted for, creating a surreal backdrop that elevates the artwork, building a grander impression. Custom tile panels were designed by the Brazilian artist João Henrique, which provides an additional layer of uniqueness and beauty to the space. In an effort to protect the art pieces from the strong Brazilian sun, the architects created a large wall, which is raised from the floor, and supported by pillars. This protects the space while permitting soft natural light to enter through the open garden, creating a peaceful environment. The house also features a brushed gray granite floor in all the rooms, offering a calming and neutral tone to it.

I love a good tiny home! They are a space-saving and eco-friendly living solution that reduces the load on Mother Earth. They’re simple and minimal alternatives to the imposing, materialistic dwellings that seem to have taken over. And they’re also notable for their ability and gift to maximize the use of limited space. And this adorable yet unique tiny home by French designer Baluchon completely caught my eye!

Say hello to Mina. One of Baluchon’s latest tiny homes, Mina combats its issue of limited available floor space by fitting in an additional netted loft area upstairs. This loft area is designed to be used as a reading space, and a general hangout area, that is topped up by a massive operable skylight.

Pros:

• Maximizes space by integrating a cozy loft space
• The staircase incorporates additional storage space as well

Cons:

• If you’re afraid of heights, the netted loft area isn’t the best idea for you

The Mina Tiny House is supported by a double-axle trailer, which measures about 20 feet long. It is finished in red cedar, and aluminum cladding, and is powered by a standard RV-style hookup. Intended to be a single-person tiny home, most of the floor space available downstairs is occupied by the living room. This includes a large bench window seat with integrated storage that also doubles up as a bed for guests. Cabinets, a coffee table, and a compact wood-burning stove are included in this space.

The kitchen is located close, and it features a trendy Smeg fridge, an oven, a propane-powered four-burner stove, a sink, cabinetry, and a dining table for up to two people. This section is connected to a bathroom with storage space, a shower, and a toilet. Now onto the star feature of Mina – a netted loft area upstairs! The upstairs area is accessed via a staircase that incorporates storage space underneath. As you climb the stairs, you are welcomed by the netted section, which is quite uncommon in most homes. The netted area isn’t very large, but it does allow light to filter in from below. There is a skylight above the loft which opens up the space to the outdoors, allowing natural light to flow in as well.

This loft area functions as a ‘hammock’, but a larger and safer version of one. It functions as a quaint space to sleep, play, read, or even catch up on some light work. The Mina is a brilliant tiny home for those who want to maximize minimum space in a smart and efficient manner, while also catering to homeowners who love quirky and playful designs!
